Program delivery update: Permanent residence pathway – Foreign nationals who were in state care

To acknowledge the vulnerability of foreign nationals who came to Canada under the age of 19 and were under the legal responsibility of the child protection system, and who may now face removal, the Government of Canada has issued a new temporary public policy to facilitate the granting of permanent residence to eligible applicants within this population and their in-Canada family members.
Eligible applicants have until January 21, 2027, to submit their application for permanent residence.
